Wicked Invites
Sometimes the creative stars align — and that’s exactly what happened when two separate local families came to Curious Pixels with the same birthday party theme: Wicked.
Different kids. Different venues. Different vibes.
Same love for a certain green-skinned icon.
Designing for both gave us the rare treat of exploring how one theme can come to life in totally unique ways — a masterclass in mood, tone, and creativity.
The Dramatic One: A Broadway Bash in Nairn
For the first family, the brief was clear: big, bold, and magical — like stepping into a mini musical. Held at the Nairn Community Centre, this party was all about the show: Glinda and Elphaba were set to appear, and there were plans for bouncy castles and toys.
We built the invite around that theatrical energy, with dark whimsical hues, spotlighted typography, and dreamy colour shifts that felt pulled from a stage set. The result was an invitation that shouted “This will be a performance.” (And yes — we were invited.)
The Playful One: A Bubbly Celebration in Inverness
Meanwhile, up the road in Inverness, another young fan of Wicked was getting ready to celebrate at Frankie & Lola’s — a vibrant indoor play venue. The vibe here? Soft, sweet, and sparkle-dusted, with a focus on bubbles, laughter, and whimsy.
This design leaned pastel. We used silhouette artwork, iridescent overlays, and cheerful fonts to mirror the sensory fun of soft play. Same theme, but this invite was all about wonder and warmth — perfect for a sugar-fuelled afternoon with friends.
What These Projects Proved: A single theme doesn’t limit you — it liberates you.Great design meets people where they are — in mood, tone, and context.Nairn and Inverness are bursting with families who know how to throw a seriously good party.
These invites were a joy to create — not just because we love Wicked, but because they challenged us to reimagine the same concept in two completely original ways.
Got a theme in mind? Let’s bring it to life — no spells required.
